
The Prime Minister attended the Arab Republic of Egypt's National Day, reaffirming the strong bilateral relationship founded on respect and trust between the two countries.
At 6:30 p.m. on 7 July 2026, at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Ms. Ploytale Lakshamisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul attended the reception for the Arab Republic of Egypt's National Day, upon invitation from H.E. Mrs. Hala Youssef Ahmed Ragab, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Thailand.
Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by the Egyptian Ambassador to Thailand, presented with a congratulatory bouquet, and viewed the exhibition "Egyptian Ancient Civilization through the Art of Papyrus," showcasing Egypt's long history and civilization.
The Prime Minister then participated in the official ceremony, which included the playing of the Thai and Egyptian national anthems, listened to the Ambassador's opening remarks, offered congratulations on behalf of the Thai government, joined the National Day cake-cutting ceremony, and posed for photos with diplomatic representatives and attendees.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister thanked the Egyptian Ambassador for the congratulatory message on His Majesty the King’s birthday, as well as the condolences expressed on the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Krom Luang Rajsarinisiri Patcharawachraratchathida.
The Prime Minister expressed great pleasure in celebrating the 74th National Day of Egypt, emphasizing that Thailand and Egypt share a strong relationship based on respect, trust, and longstanding friendship between their peoples for over 70 years. Egypt was the first country in the Arab region and Africa to establish diplomatic ties with Thailand, a milestone both nations value and take pride in.
He also mentioned Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya's representation of the Thai monarchy at the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in November 2025, invited by the Egyptian President, reflecting the close relationship between the two countries that value their shared history, culture, and heritage.
Regarding the economy, the Prime Minister noted ongoing development in Thai-Egyptian cooperation, with bilateral trade reaching nearly US$1 billion in 2025. Thai businesses have increased investments in Egypt, demonstrating private sector confidence in the potential and relations between the two countries.
He highlighted people-to-people ties as a crucial foundation of Thai-Egyptian friendship. Egypt remains a key destination for Thai Muslim students pursuing higher education, with approximately 3,600 enrolled at Al-Azhar University, which plays an important role in fostering understanding and bonding between the peoples of both nations.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister affirmed Thailand's readiness to promote cooperation with African countries through the Thailand–Africa Initiative and expressed hope for Egypt’s continued support in this regard.
