Energy Minister Eknat promptly cut prices of all types of gasoline and diesel by 2.5 baht per liter through the Energy Policy Committee's resolution, capping prices at no more than 35 baht per liter by drawing on excess refinery profits to ease the burden on citizens.
7 Jul 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Eknat Prompun, Minister of Energy and Chair of the Energy Policy Administration Committee, revealed that at today’s meeting of the Energy Policy Committee (EPC), members were informed of the Prime Minister's (Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul) directive from today's Cabinet meeting, assigning the Ministry of Energy to find ways to reduce retail fuel prices as much as possible. This aims to align with the global crude oil price decrease, relieve citizens' cost of living, and reduce business operators' expenses.
Using powers under Section 3 of the Petroleum Shortage Prevention and Remedy Act B.E. 2516 (1973) and authority under Clause 3 of Prime Minister’s Order 15/2562 regarding measures to resolve and prevent petroleum shortages, the EPC resolved to set a retail fuel price ceiling for gasohol and high-speed diesel at no more than 35.00 baht per liter, utilizing part of the excess profits from oil refineries to compensate price adjustments.
They also assigned the Fuel Fund Management Committee to consider setting appropriate fund contribution rates or compensation rates from the fuel fund to ensure retail prices comply with the set price ceiling and align with the Prime Minister’s directives.
Mr. Eknat further revealed that these measures will reduce retail fuel prices: gasoline and gasohol prices will drop by about 2.51 baht per liter, and high-speed diesel prices will fall by approximately 2.56 baht per liter, resulting in a high-speed diesel retail price of 34.94 baht per liter, in line with the EPC’s approved price ceiling.
