Ruttapon Leaves DSI to Decide if Pawut’s Forex Case Explanation Holds

Ruttapon revealed progress in the Forex case after interviewing 100 victims; the evidence, transactions, and money trails are sufficient. He expects to complete this before the parliamentary session ends and leaves it to the DSI to decide whether Pawut's explanation is credible.

At 08:50 on 8 July 2026 at the Government House, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, commented on the Department of Special Investigation's (DSI) report regarding the questioning of Pawut Pongwittayaphanu, a People's Party list MP, who provided explanations related to the Forex case on 6 July. He said there has been no formal report yet, but approximately 100 victims have been interviewed alongside the collection of substantial evidence and transaction data. He believes this will be completed before the House of Representatives session closes.

When asked what he meant by completing before the House of Representatives session closes on 11 July, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapon said the DSI may update on the number of witnesses questioned and data obtained, but he does not intervene or interfere with the investigation details.

When asked if there are still doubts about Pawut’s explanation after his briefing to the DSI, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapon said he has not inquired about this issue. He said the officials would clarify which information can be disclosed to the public and which remain confidential within the investigation.

When asked when the DSI plans to file charges against suspects, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapon said he truly does not know. What he knows is that about 100 witnesses have been interviewed and some transaction and money trail data have been received, which is quite sufficient. He does not know the details of the financial evidence but leaves the overall details to the DSI to clarify.

When pressed whether the Prime Minister must be informed before charges are filed, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapon said all procedures must follow regulations and laws, and he believes the Prime Minister would be informed as required.
