The Prime Minister clearly emphasized that the Internal Security Operations Command will not be dissolved because it is a government mechanism coordinating with the military to maintain security. He intends to personally clarify with "Wannor" and insists he will not interfere in the investigation of the assassination attempt on MP Kamolsak, allowing police to work according to the law.
On 8 July 2026 at the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence (Srisaman), Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul responded to reporters regarding Wannor Muhamad Noor Matha, the Prime Minister's Advisory Chairman, who proposed dissolving the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). Reporters asked if he was concerned about the proposed restructuring of the security sector.
The Prime Minister reiterated that yesterday (7 July), he already stated there will be no dissolution of ISOC, so there is no need for concern. ISOC remains essential as a mechanism enabling the government to effectively implement security policies. It serves as a key channel while the military focuses on national defense and citizen protection. ISOC oversees not only security but also public utilities and daily life aspects, which some view narrowly as only security-related. Therefore, it must remain a government mechanism coordinating with the military to efficiently deliver assistance and services to the public.
"I understand that a senior figure like Professor Wannor, who is based in the three southern border provinces, may feel pressured and want to express his concerns. Sometimes we must allow him to vent. But in reality, ISOC is a government agency and a core security institution that has long handled national security operations. I will go and clarify with him myself."
When asked about progress in the assassination attempt case against Narathiwat MP Kamolsak Liwa Mo, where several suspects have been arrested, and whether the motives are known, the Prime Minister stated that the matter is under legal process. He will not interfere, leaving investigation and official duties to proceed accordingly.
Asked why the motives remain unclear despite the case's time lapse, the Prime Minister replied that several suspects have been arrested and the process follows justice. This is not a lawless place. When someone disrespects the law, the state must uphold it. The state will not tolerate lawlessness, as that would undermine public respect for law. The government must act within the law and will not exempt anyone who commits offenses; all must be brought to justice.
