Prime Minister Anutins Official Visit to Malaysia on 9-10 July to Discuss Comprehensive Cooperation

Prime Minister Anutin will make an official visit to Malaysia on 9-10 July, leading a delegation to discuss cooperation across all sectors. The visit will push forward border economy, trade, and security efforts, sign an agricultural MOU, and aim to improve citizens' quality of life.

On 8 July 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is scheduled for an official visit to Malaysia from 9 to 10 July 2026 in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. He will meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim to elevate bilateral relations and drive cooperation in economic, security, and quality-of-life matters.

The spokesperson noted that Malaysia is currently Thailand’s top ASEAN trading partner and a neighboring country with close relations in all dimensions. This visit is a key opportunity to build on existing cooperation and promote new partnerships beneficial to both, enhancing competitiveness, readiness against external fluctuations, economic opportunities, and improving citizens’ quality of life long-term.

Key issues Thailand will promote during this visit include cooperation in trade promotion, investment, agriculture, food security, energy security, transportation and logistics development, border economy growth, border security enhancement, and resolving issues in the southern border provinces.

The spokesperson added that the Prime Minister’s visit is not only for bilateral leader talks but includes high-level representatives from various agencies. They will meet Malaysian counterparts responsible for respective sectors, expediting negotiations, reaching joint conclusions, and accelerating cooperation into practical implementation.

“The Prime Minister prioritizes tangible results from every foreign visit—not just ceremonial engagements—but solving problems, reducing operational obstacles, opening markets, and creating new opportunities for Thai citizens and businesses. This will drive economic expansion, job creation, income generation, and sustainably improve citizens’ quality of life,” the spokesperson said. . . .

On the morning of 9 July 2026, the Prime Minister and delegation will depart from Air Force Base 2, Wing 6 to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, then attend small group and full delegation talks, sign an agricultural MOU, and hold a joint press conference at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office (Perdana Putra Complex) in Putrajaya.

In the evening, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with Thai and Malaysian business sectors to hear proposals, exchange views, and jointly explore opportunities to expand Thai-Malaysian business cooperation.

On 10 July 2026, the Prime Minister and delegation will travel to the new Sadao customs checkpoint in Songkhla province to preside over the opening ceremony of the road linking Thailand’s new Sadao checkpoint with Malaysia’s Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint, alongside the Malaysian Prime Minister. This is a key project to upgrade border connectivity between the two countries. Afterwards, they will attend a lunch hosted by the Malaysian side before returning to Bangkok after completing the mission.
