Prime Minister Chairs NCPO Meeting to Plan Flood Response, Drawing Lessons from Hat Yai Floods with Unified Water Management and Timely Action

Anutin chaired the NCPO meeting to plan flood response, drawing lessons from the Hat Yai floods. The focus was on unified water management, incorporating technology and in-depth research to aid timely decision-making and response.

On 8 July, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the 2/2026 NCPO meeting at the Santi Maitri Building (Inner Back), Government House. Before the meeting, he stated that the previous meeting had approved the establishment of four subcommittees to drive various economic and overall problem-solving efforts.

Today's meeting accelerated the review of water management strategies to prepare for and mitigate flooding and storms, which impact agriculture, business, and the national economy, including tourism. It emphasized elevating water management through unified efforts, utilizing databases, technology, and in-depth research to support policy decisions. This aims to enable relevant agencies to implement timely flood responses.

Special preparations for flood response in the southern region were made by closely studying and drawing lessons from last year's major floods in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. While it may be physically impossible to prevent or block all water, the most crucial aspect is pre-planning in three main areas: prevention, assistance, and facilitation within affected areas. This ensures the most effective disaster relief for the people.

The meeting included representatives from the three private sector institutions (NCPO): the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai Bankers’ Association.
