Pol. Lt. Gen. Rutthaphon confirmed that Pongsawat Nilayothin, former Permanent Secretary of Justice, has indeed submitted her resignation and declined the Prime Minister’s advisory position. He explained that approval has not yet been signed because her name is under investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Commission in the Police Hospital case.
At 3:30 p.m. on 8 July 2026, internal sources within the Ministry of Justice confirmed the news. Mrs. Pongsawat Nilayothin, former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, who completed her 4-year term in office, decided to submit her resignation letter to Pol. Lt. Gen. Rutthaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, because she did not wish to accept the Prime Minister’s advisory position. She also feared she would not be able to apply her knowledge and skills effectively in government work, feeling it might be a nominal role with no real responsibilities.
On the other hand, Pol. Lt. Gen. Rutthaphon acknowledged that Mrs. Pongsawat submitted her resignation for personal reasons, but he has not yet signed the approval. It is still under review whether approval can be granted, as her name has been submitted for investigation to the National Anti-Corruption Commission regarding the Police Hospital case. Reporters added that Mrs. Pongsawat has one year of civil service remaining.
