Rakchanok called on the Social Security Office and major employers to urgently promote the Social Security Board election on 27 September 2026 widely, and proposed that employers declare the day a holiday to enable employees to vote.
8 July 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list MP from the People’s Party, held a press conference at the Parliament building saying that only one final week remains before the Social Security Board election on Sunday, 27 September 2026. The Board functions as a policy-level organization with a crucial role in managing the Social Security Fund, overseeing the rights and welfare of insured workers. It proposes policies and measures related to social security to the government, plans fund management and benefit development to meet insured persons’ needs, issues regulations on fund receipt, payments, and safekeeping, and governs fund profit generation such as safe investment to generate income for insured persons. It also sets criteria and conditions for various benefits including sickness, childbirth, disability, death, child support, old age, and unemployment.
During the registration period from 1 June to 15 July 2026, both employers and employees eligible to vote must register first to be able to vote on election day. Data shows 10 million insured persons exist, but only 750,000 have registered to vote. Of 500,000 employers, only 6,000 have registered. Therefore, she urged the Social Security Office and major employers to actively promote and encourage registration for the Social Security Board election, including preparing registration schedules across all 77 provinces to inform insured persons. She also proposed that employers declare election day a holiday to allow employees to vote simultaneously and fully.
