Anutin Affirms No Interference in Local Exam Fraud Case, Feigns Unfamiliarity with Teng

Prime Minister Anutin reaffirmed that the local exam fraud case involved no interference or compromise. He feigned ignorance of 'Natthapong' and agreed to accept responsibility for the 400-billion-baht loan decree.

On 9 July 2026 at 07:30 at Military Airport 2, Wing 6, Don Mueang, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, commented on the Constitutional Court's ruling on the constitutionality of the 400-billion-baht loan decree. He said respect must be given to the court's decision, which binds all organizations, and asked to wait for the verdict. When asked if the Prime Minister, currently traveling to Malaysia, was prepared to issue orders regardless of the ruling, Anutin said no orders were needed; they would await and comply with the court's decision. When questioned about opposition calls for resignation should the ruling be negative, the Prime Minister asked, "Who?" Reporters replied, "The opposition." He then asked which opposition member, wanting to know the background for such a question. The reporters named Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the Prachachon Party. Anutin laughed and asked, "Who? Who is Natthapong?" When reporters responded "Khun Teng," Anutin replied, "Oh, Teng's leader." When asked if Natthapong had said that if there were serious mistakes the Prime Minister should resign, Anutin smiled and asked, "Who is he?" Reporters answered, "Opposition leader." Anutin said, "Oh, okay."

He emphasized that there was no possibility of interference in the local exam fraud case.

Anutin also addressed whether other ministries would be instructed to investigate corruption in local civil service exams, especially the assistant teacher exams. He assured the public that four main agencies are currently investigating, including the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), which has clearly stated its position. The Ministry of Interior has suspended those suspected of involvement or impact on the case and formed an investigative committee to ensure thoroughness. Anutin himself established a fact-finding and legal review committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt, which can cover work beyond the Ministry of Interior. Reports indicate involvement not only from ministry personnel but also external agents and intermediaries. Anutin recently spoke by phone with Pakorn, who reported that the Royal Thai Police Commander is conducting investigations into offenders. Today, all agencies are working diligently; there is no chance for interference or compromise. Simply put, no authority can overstep or interfere with the NACC or Pakorn's committee. Everything proceeds according to legal mechanisms.
