Anutin said there is no need to clear the air with Wannor over the proposal to dissolve the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). The MRT tunnel water leak does not affect the structure, and contractors must take responsibility for the damage near Vajira Hospital.
On 9 July 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, traveled to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia, for an official visit from 9-10 July 2026. Upon arrival, Anutin greeted and warmly smiled at Wannor Mutamat, adviser to the Prime Minister. Reporters asked if he had cleared the air with Wannor regarding the proposal to dissolve the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). Anutin said there was no need to clear the air, as differing opinions are normal; ultimately, the top management's policy will prevail. When pressed if he had spoken with Wannor, Anutin said no, but they would talk on the plane, mentioning that General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Army Chief of Staff, was also present to discuss the matter. Asked about a budget committee proposal to dissolve overlapping agencies, the Prime Minister said, "I have no opinion."
Anutin also commented on inspecting the water leak inside a water sump under the Purple Line MRT tunnel near King Taksin Circle around midnight. When a reporter joked, "You're so dedicated, working past midnight," Anutin replied humorously, "It's nerve-wracking, with such news it's worrisome. We had to quickly inspect." Both the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior acted swiftly. Since Bangkok currently lacks a governor, coordination was comprehensive. Asked if the situation was concerning, Anutin said it was under control. Engineering inspections showed water seepage entered at the sump's lowest point as designed, unlike the Vajira Hospital area where structural collapse occurred at the station joint. This leak does not affect the main structure, and water levels can be monitored and managed after pumping out.
Asked if he had given orders regarding other sites as the rainy season approaches, the Prime Minister said he had instructed surveys beyond just design plans, including geological assessments, to check as thoroughly as possible given the many ongoing constructions and drainage needs. He is awaiting the Election Commission's certification of the Bangkok governor election results; once completed, the governor can assume duties. He will promptly invite the new governor to discuss support and cooperation. Regarding repairs near Vajira Hospital, Anutin said repairs are underway; as of 8 July, reinforcements akin to an additional protective layer were added following engineering standards. Contractual responsibilities and damages remain with contractors, with no government budget impact except possible delays. If timelines are met, penalties will be imposed accordingly.
Reporters noted that while the Prime Minister was giving his interview, Defense Minister Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen and General Chaiyapruk were standing nearby talking with Wannor close to where the Prime Minister was speaking.
