Interior Ministry Uses Cell Broadcast to Announce Road Closure Due to Road Subsidence

"Worasit - Siripong" visited the site near Wongwian Yai roundabout to follow up on the road subsidence incident, using Cell Broadcast to announce the road closure and advise the public to avoid the area.

At 17:00 on 9 July 2026, Mr. Worasit Liangprasith, Deputy Minister of the Interior, accompanied by Mr. Siripong Angkasungkiet, Deputy Minister of Transport, visited the site to monitor repairs following road subsidence near Wongwian Yai roundabout (Prachatipok Road from Ban Khaek Intersection towards Wongwian Yai). They were joined by Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Mr. Pongnara Yenying, Director-General of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, Mr. Saharat Wongsakulwiwat, Acting Governance Advisor, and other relevant agencies. This followed flooding in the Purple Line underground construction tunnel the night before (8 July 2026), which caused subsidence and surface cracks on the affected road.

Currently, officials are surveying and assessing the structural integrity of the road and surrounding buildings. All traffic lanes have been closed from Ban Khaek Intersection to Prachatipok Road heading towards Wongwian Yai to expedite repairs caused by the tunnel leakage. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued Cell Broadcast messages advising residents in the area to avoid the route and allow extra travel time due to possible traffic congestion. To enhance safety, a response team from Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center Region 1 in Pathum Thani has deployed long-distance water pumps, rescue vehicles for collapsed buildings, rapid-response rescue trucks with equipment, lighting towers at least nine meters tall, a 10,000-liter fire water truck, and a crisis response team on standby at the site, ready to act immediately.
