
Anutin signed the Ministry of Interior announcement opening a new permanent Sadao border crossing opposite the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Malaysia and closing the old crossing, effective from 11 July 2026.
On 9 July 2026, the Royal Gazette website publishedthe Ministry of Interior announcement regarding the opening of the permanent Sadao border crossing in Sadao district, Songkhla province.Signed by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the announcement dated 8 July 2026 states that following the Ministry of Interior’s announcement dated 10 September 2013, which defined the locations and names of immigration checkpoints and designated routes for persons entering or leaving the kingdom to be inspected by immigration officers,
the Cabinet resolved on 7 July 2026 to approve opening a new permanent Sadao border crossing between boundary markers 23/9 and 23/10 and closing the old crossing between markers 22-23. The changes take effect per the Ministry of Interior announcement from 11 July 2026 onward, with operating hours daily from 05:00 to 23:00 local Thai time.
Under the authority of Section 5 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, as amended by National Council for Peace and Order Announcement No. 87/2557 dated 10 July 2014 concerning amendments related to police authority, and Sections 11 and 23 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior issue the following announcement.
Section 1 It is ordered that the permanent Sadao border crossing at boundary markers 22-23 in Sadao district, Songkhla province, covering the land route from the border to the Sadao immigration checkpoint, shall be closed.
Section 2 The permanent Sadao border crossing at boundary markers 23/9 - 23/10 in Sadao district, Songkhla province, opposite the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah state, Malaysia, shall be opened, operating daily from 05:00 to 23:00. (06:00 to 24:00 Malaysian time). The immigration checkpoint will be located in Sadao district, with authorized routes for persons or vehicles entering or leaving the kingdom to be inspected by immigration officers along the land route from the border to the Sadao immigration checkpoint.
This takes effect from 11 July 2026 onward.
