The Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPM) confirmed that commercial buildings have not subsided further due to water leakage into the Purple Line underground tunnel. The USAR THAILAND team has been deployed with equipment to measure and monitor; if signs of increased tilt appear, they are ready to respond immediately.
At 21:15 on 9 July 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Theeraphat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPM). He spoke regarding the case of commercial buildings subsiding due to water leakage into the Purple Line underground construction tunnel near Wongwian Yai. He said that, visually, it may appear the buildings are subsiding more, but instrumental checks show the building remains tilted at 79-80 degrees, the same deviation as in the previous evening. However, cracks and fractures still require close monitoring. Officials from USAR THAILAND are using equipment to measure and monitor, alongside engineering techniques.
Meanwhile, DPM will support Bangkok authorities by using digital tilt-measuring devices which will sound alarms if the building tilts further, prompting immediate action by officials with the necessary equipment. The affected building is currently under renovation and unoccupied. Surrounding private business operators are advised to proceed with caution and await official evacuation orders from Bangkok authorities.
