The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has found the former assistant director of the Government Savings Bank's corporate communications department guilty of soliciting money and benefits from a television production company, and has forwarded the case to the Office of the Attorney General for criminal prosecution. The case concerns bribery involving a company producing television programs.
On 10 Jul 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that the NACC committee resolved to find Sergeant Major Sirikorn, also known as Siwsiri Pinphet, when serving as assistant director of corporate communications at the Government Savings Bank, and her associates guilty of soliciting assets or other benefits from contractors producing television programs. The benefits received exceeded 3,000 baht per instance from 2010 to 2017. The facts indicate that during this period, Sergeant Major Sirikorn, in her role overseeing program production, approving content formats, and deciding on broadcasts, received a total of 51 payments from Kunnue Media Company Limited and Starting Company Limited, both contracted to produce television programs, short documentaries, and video presentations for the bank. Kunnue Media transferred funds through Mr. Chatchai Jomkaew, while Starting Company transferred funds via Ms. Kawintip Kliansri, totaling 1,912,720 baht.
The NACC committee considered and resolved that Sergeant Major Sirikorn's actions constitute criminal offenses under the Act on Offenses by Officials in Government Organizations 1959, sections 6 and 11, in conjunction with Penal Code section 91, and the Organic Act on Anti-Corruption 1999, sections 103, 122, 123/1, and 123/2, also in conjunction with Penal Code section 91. She is also guilty of serious disciplinary offenses. Since the Government Savings Bank has already dismissed her, there is no need to forward the disciplinary matter to her superiors. The two private companies, Mr. Chatchai Jomkaew, and Ms. Kawintip Kliansri are found criminally liable as accomplices to a state official. The case has been sent to the Office of the Attorney General to proceed with criminal prosecution in the competent court.
