Deputy Interior Minister Orders Metropolitan Waterworks Authority to Enhance 24-Hour Readiness at Wongwian Yai Area

The Deputy Interior Minister (MOT 3) has ordered the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) to step up preparations to handle all situations in the Wongwian Yai area, mobilizing water trucks and staff ready 24 hours a day to ensure continuous water supply service to the public.

On 10 July 2026, Mr. Je-set Thai-set, Deputy Interior Minister (MOT 3), instructed the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) to fully enhance readiness to manage the situation around Wongwian Yai. He emphasized that all operational units must prepare emergency plans, personnel, and resources around the clock to be able to assist residents immediately should ground subsidence affect the main pipelines and water distribution system.

Following this directive, MWA has arranged water trucks to be on standby 24 hours a day both around Wongwian Yai and at branch locations. They have also coordinated with private water truck operators in the area to support operations immediately if necessary. Additionally, cold drinking water service vehicles have been set up at the operations tent to provide convenience for officials and local residents.

At the same time, a repair task force equipped with tools and personnel for production systems and water pipeline repairs has been prepared to respond according to the emergency plan immediately. MWA has also contacted large water customers potentially affected by supply interruptions, advising them to keep their water storage tanks fully filled to prepare for any emergency.

Mr. Je-set said the Ministry of Interior adheres to the principle “Preparedness before incidents occur.” Effective disaster management must minimize impacts on the public as much as possible. Therefore, he has ordered all agencies to closely monitor the situation, integrate operations continuously for 24 hours, and prepare in all aspects to ensure the public receives uninterrupted tap water service and timely assistance if the situation changes.

This evening, Mr. Je-set will visit the site with Prime Minister and Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul to closely follow up on the incident area and related agencies’ operations, urging all units to fully coordinate their efforts to build public confidence and deliver assistance rapidly and efficiently.
