Natthapong Ruangpanyawut sees the visits by Thaksin, Paethongtarn, and Yingluck Shinawatra to meet ASEAN leaders as not harmful if they benefit the people. He advises Anutin to be more proactive in addressing problems faster.
On 11 July 2026 at the parliament, Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the opposition in the House of Representatives, commented on whether the visits of three former prime ministers from the Shinawatra family—Thaksin Shinawatra, Paethongtarn Shinawatra, and Yingluck Shinawatra—to meet ASEAN leaders have political implications.
Natthapong said the person best suited to answer this question is the prime minister. Regarding communications about the shrimp export issue with Malaysia, he personally feels the prime minister's response has been too slow. Since the shadow cabinet meeting, they have pointed out that delays could seriously harm shrimp farmers because if the shrimp die, entire ponds could be lost within one to two weeks. The prime minister should act quickly to find solutions for the farmers.
As for whether the Shinawatra family’s former prime ministers’ visits have political implications, he said the public should be the judge. But regardless of whether they are former or current politicians, if their negotiations benefit the people, it is a positive matter.
However, the most important thing is that the current prime minister should use his powers with greater enthusiasm, act more swiftly, and solve problems in a timely manner for the public.
He also spoke about the prime minister’s role in parliament, saying the opposition has consistently urged him to take responsibility by attending live question sessions. While understanding the prime minister has many duties, answering live questions is a basic responsibility that should be scheduled. As opposition, if they want to pose questions, they will direct them to the prime minister, who holds the power and responsibility directly.
