Defense Minister Visits Surin, Focuses on Frontline Soldiers Quality of Life, Orders Increased Combat Special Allowance

Adul accelerates the border project “Flowing Water, Bright Lights, Good Roads, Reliable Signals” and orders to speed up the combat special allowance payments to boost morale of the dedicated personnel who sacrifice.

On 11 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense, visited the border area of Surin province to inspect and closely monitor the progress of the border security development project. Major General Boonserm Boonbumrung, Commander of Suranaree Forces, and other local commanders welcomed him and joined a briefing on the security situation and frontline development plans.

During this visit, Lieutenant General Adul focused on monitoring infrastructure essential for the livelihood and operational duties of frontline soldiers under the border development policy “Flowing Water, Bright Lights, Good Roads, Reliable Signals.” This aims to improve the welfare of troops and border communities, as well-equipped public utilities enhance surveillance and national defense capabilities more effectively.

“The government and Ministry of Defense prioritize continuous development of border areas because national security must go hand in hand with improving the quality of life for soldiers and residents. Every service member sacrifices to defend sovereignty. Our duty is to ensure they have the best quality of life — clean water, electricity, roads, and communication systems — so they can perform their duties at full strength,” the Deputy Minister of Defense said.

Additionally, the Defense Minister expressed special concern over soldiers’ benefits, instructing responsible agencies to expedite the disbursement of the Combat Special Allowance (CSA) to personnel operating in hazardous zones promptly, accurately, and completely. He stressed that no delays or omissions are acceptable, as this allowance serves to boost the morale of brave soldiers dedicating their sweat and effort on the frontlines.

Furthermore, Lieutenant General Adul ordered all local agencies to integrate their work as one unit to accelerate and concretely realize the infrastructure projects as soon as possible. He emphasized that true security means soldiers can perform their duties with confidence and border residents enjoy sustainable improved living standards. This visit aligns with government policies to best care for the rights and welfare of those who sacrifice for the nation, honoring the trust placed in them by the Thai people nationwide.
