Anutin Visits Site of Ladprao Fire, Reports 27 Dead, Smoke Seen from Cut-Out at Stage

The Prime Minister visited the site of the fire at the brewery restaurant in Ladprao, revealing an initial death count of 27, mostly due to smoke inhalation. Survivors reported seeing smoke from a cut-out at the stage before an explosion and rapid fire spread. Governor Chadchart promptly joined the site.

At 01:42 on 13 July 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, visited the brewery restaurant in Ladprao where the fire occurred. He was accompanied by Theeraphat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok; Traisulee Traisoranakul, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister; and executives from related agencies to monitor the situation.

After the visit, Anutin told reporters, “I saw the explosion that engulfed the entire restaurant. Most of the fatalities died from smoke inhalation.”

When asked if he knew the cause of the fire, Anutin said, “We are waiting for police and forensic officials to inspect the site. I want to wait for the forensic team to provide accurate information. We are also having relatives report in, as there have been calls from victims’ phones to authorities. The police allowed rescue personnel to answer and record the information.”

“From what I know, survivors who are musicians said smoke came from a cut-out at the stage. The power went out briefly, then there was an explosion. Smoke filled the area, and people ran. Many victims ran into the back of the building, into the restroom, which lacked clear fire exits. People were likely panicking and trying to escape the smoke because the dining hall was full of smoke and fire with explosions. The fire quickly engulfed everything,” Anutin explained.

He added, “This is a preliminary assumption based on survivors’ statements. We must wait for forensic officials to verify the exact cause.”

Regarding the current estimate of fatalities and injuries, Anutin said, “There are 27 dead so far. Some injured have been sent to hospitals. We are trying to track everyone, but the priority is ensuring survivors’ safety.”

When asked about other fire exits besides the two doors, Anutin said, “We could not access the entire restaurant because some areas were slippery and littered with broken glass. We focused on the restroom area where bodies were recovered. All victims’ bodies have been removed and are awaiting identification here before being sent to the morgue, separated by gender. We are also checking for any personal effects.”

Theeraphat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, stated that at about 00:02, the department received reports of a fire at the brewery restaurant in Ladprao near Ladprao 1 Alley, Jompol subdistrict, Chatuchak district, Bangkok. The fire spread rapidly. Firefighters from Suthisarn, Phahonyothin, Phaya Thai, and Huai Khwang fire stations, along with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, police, disaster prevention officials, and foundation volunteers, joined to extinguish the fire and assist victims trapped inside. The fire was brought under control at 00:32.

Preliminary checks show 27 people dead—9 men and 18 women—with many injured sent to nearby hospitals. Authorities are investigating the cause. The Prime Minister has ordered all relevant agencies to expedite detailed investigations, monitor injured patients’ conditions, contact victims’ relatives, and carry out identification procedures as soon as possible.

Reporters noted that during the site visit, Anutin inspected the inside of the building where the fire occurred and examined the bodies of the deceased.
