Permanent Secretary of Interior Atsit revealed that the Central Committee for Local Employee Competitive Exams (CCLECE) will meet on 15 July to decide the fate of local officials involved in exam fraud. He also disclosed that the Prime Minister wishes to complete the process as quickly as possible.
At 08:30 on 13 July 2026, at Bangkok City Hall, Din Daeng, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Atsit Sampantharat spoke about the progress of the local election fraud investigation. This followed a meeting on 11 July called by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who summoned related agencies including the Serious Misconduct Investigation Committee and representatives from the Department of Local Administration Promotion (DLA) to report updates. The DLA examined discrepancies between raw exam scores and the announced results and found inconsistencies. The next step involves the new Deputy Director of the DLA, now serving as secretary of the CCLECE, bringing the score discrepancies for the committee’s consideration. The CCLECE’s findings will then be presented to the Central Committee on Civil and Local Employees (Central Committee), which will notify provinces to inform local government heads to revoke the appointment orders of implicated officials.
Regarding the timeline for notifying provinces, the Prime Minister was informed that the CCLECE will meet on 15 July to review the case before forwarding the information as outlined. The Prime Minister wants the process expedited since the Ministry of Interior’s part is complete, but other agencies remain involved, such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). The NACC has already published a list of 6,014 individuals, though it has not declared all as guilty. It is believed the NACC will proceed swiftly.
When asked whether the opinions of the CCLECE and the Central Committee will now be aligned, Atsit said the committees must review factual information. Any differing opinions must be justified with reasons for disbelief. He expressed confidence that the process will succeed smoothly as it aims to clarify the situation for the public as soon as possible.
