Anutin Opens Bangkok Council Meeting, Leads Governor and Councillors in Mourning Fire Victims at Ladprao Brewery

Anutin presided over the Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting, leading Governor and councillors in standing to mourn the victims of the Ladprao brewery fire, while expressing readiness to cooperate in developing Bangkok as a metropolis for everyone.


At 09:00 on 13 July 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the first Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting. Attending were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Minister of Interior Jesada Thaiset, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, Prime Minister’s Secretary-General Traisuli Traisornkul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Assisit Sampanrat, along with Bangkok’s executive team, council members, civil servants, and related officials at the Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting room, Irawat Pattana Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, Din Daeng district, Bangkok.



At the meeting's opening, Prime Minister Anutin welcomed Bangkok’s executive team and council members attending, and requested everyone to stand in tribute to the 27 victims of the Ladprao brewery fire. Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Bangkok councillors had visited the fire site the previous night. The Prime Minister then asked all present to observe a moment of mourning.


Prime Minister Anutin congratulated the Bangkok council members, governor, and executive team on being entrusted by Bangkok’s citizens to serve. He expressed belief that they carry the hopes and trust of the people and will dedicate their effort, spirit, and ability to serve with honesty to make Bangkok a city of pride with continuous development. Bangkok is a large city with one of the world’s highest populations, attracting many tourists. It is a capital with diverse economic and social aspects and faces complex challenges requiring ongoing solutions and development to enhance its potential as a global metropolis. Investment and tourism must be elevated to allow everyone to live with quality. He trusts the council will be entrusted with the responsibility of approving budgets and reflecting public concerns to ensure effective, transparent, and accountable administration prioritizing the public’s best interests. This council meeting marks an important start for the legislative branch, and he believes cooperation, sacrifice, and dedication will be key to driving sustainable development for the nation’s capital.


Anutin added that he was not there as Prime Minister but as Minister of Interior opening the council under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration regulations. He pledged the government’s support and cooperation to all, both legislative and executive branches of Bangkok, to develop the metropolis. Bangkok must progress and prosper as a place not only for its residents but also as a livelihood and living space for all people across the country. The city should be ready and convenient for both Thais and foreigners, and participate in national administration. He asked for confidence that the government, led by him, welcomes and looks forward to working together with everyone in the Bangkok Metropolitan Council. Finally, to comply with Section 30 of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Act, he officially opened the Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting.
