Julphan announced the extension of the registration period for the Social Security Board election until 20 July, providing an opportunity for insured persons and employers to fully exercise their rights. Collaboration with 35 major private companies aims to develop high-skilled labor, address unemployment issues, and promote over 310,000 job vacancies.
On 13 July 2026, Julphan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, revealed after discussions with 35 company leaders that the Ministry of Labor is integrating cooperation with the private sector to listen to business proposals and needs, leading to workforce skill development, improvement of employment laws and benefits, and creating opportunities for Thai workers to have stable jobs with appropriate income.
Julphan stated that currently there are over 311,983 job vacancies in the 'Thai Mee Ngan Tum' system, with more than 166,461 applicants already placed. Most labor demand is in the manufacturing sector with over 114,305 positions, while over 51,000 new university graduates remain job hunting, highlighting a mismatch between skills and market requirements.
Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, said the department will link job vacancy information through the 'Thai Mee Ngan Tum' platform and requests continuous cooperation from employers to report job positions and required skills into the system. This data will help develop training courses tailored to business needs, reduce labor shortages, and enhance the country's competitiveness. Job seekers can search for positions via the 'Thai Mee Ngan Tum' website or contact employment offices nationwide and the Department of Employment hotline at 1506 press 2.
Additionally, Julphan, the Minister of Labor, announced via Facebook that the Election Commission for employer and insured representatives approved extending the registration period by five days—from the original deadline of 15 July to 20 July—to allow insured persons and employers broad participation. He confirmed that this extension will not affect the election date set for 27 September.
Julphan noted that the extension aims to maximize benefits for all insured persons and encouraged eligible voters to verify their rights and register within the new deadline. For those already registered, he asked them to help publicize and encourage colleagues and acquaintances to participate widely in the Social Security Board election.
The Social Security Office reported that as of 3:00 p.m. on 13 July, 960,909 people had registered, including 951,287 insured persons broken down as follows: 827,377 under Section 33, 81,308 under Section 39, and 28,824 under Section 40, plus 9,622 employers. This is out of approximately 25 million insured persons across all three sections (12.1 million under Section 33, 1.7 million under Section 39, and 11.2 million under Section 40).
