14 July 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Pattana Prompat, Minister of Public Health, spoke at the Government House regarding the case of Mr. Win Thanaphotphonkin, also known as Dr. Win, who is a suspect in the local government exam fraud case, and was previously appointed as a member of his task force. He confirmed that Dr. Win served on his task force around October 2025 but that he did not know Mr. Win personally beforehand. The team informed him that Mr. Win had worked in various roles and committees before, so he was introduced to the group. He went on to say, that during the previous short-term government, many incidents occurred, and he met Mr. Win only once during the introduction.
When asked whether stricter selection of task force members is needed due to past laxity affecting the minister, Mr. Pattana said that evaluations of task force members will be more rigorous going forward and he assured that the investigation into the local official exam corruption can proceed fully. He personally does not know Mr. Win, and no one else involved is connected to the minister or his team. From now on, he wants officials to work thoroughly without any interference and assures there will be absolutely none. .
