Akaranat Reveals Ministry of Education Plans to Open Child Rights Protection Center

"Akaranat" apologized after many viewed schools as unsafe places for children. He revealed that the Ministry of Education is preparing to open a Rights and Freedoms Protection Center to safeguard children.

On 14 July 2026, Akaranat Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, spoke at the Government House regarding abuse problems between teachers and students in various areas. He stated that every society has both good and bad people. In every case, there are disciplinary committees investigating serious offenses, with professional licenses suspended. On 13 July 2026, he discussed with the Teachers' Council Secretary-General about proceeding to revoke permanent professional licenses.

When asked about concerns that schools are currently unsafe for children, Akaranat apologized and said the Ministry of Education will launch a Rights and Freedoms Protection Center in September. He believes this will increase the number of complaints submitted. If the center operates effectively, transparency in investigation and problem-solving will improve. Currently, many cases attempt to reach out through influencers, but he confirmed that no complaints have been filed directly through the Ministry’s processes.

Regarding questions about victims turning to non-government agencies, Akaranat acknowledged that in the past, school principals were reluctant to disclose problems and tried to resolve issues internally, which did not solve them. The Ministry of Education is trying to address this issue and emphasizes that it is not shameful. The focus is on how to enforce laws strictly to build public trust.

When asked how victims who report tips will be protected, Akaranat explained that they use the Traffy Fondue application. Previously, some reports were not well managed because they affected the key performance indicators of the local schools. Civil servants must be proactive in their work. Reports submitted will be recorded in the database without disclosing details.
