Prime Minister to Visit Three Major Chinese Cities from 16-20 July to Promote AI Against Online Fraud

The Prime Minister is preparing to visit China to mark the 51st anniversary of diplomatic ties, meet President Xi Jinping, and tour Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing to advance AI efforts against transnational crime.


On 14 July 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is scheduled for an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from 16 to 20 July 2026, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. This visit commemorates 51 years of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations and focuses on promoting cooperation in future industries such as science, technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI), alongside security collaboration, particularly in combating transnational online crime to protect the interests of citizens in both countries.

The Prime Minister’s key missions across three main cities include visiting Shanghai to pay respects to President Xi Jinping and attending the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026 (WAIC 2026) at the invitation of Chinese leaders; visiting Chengdu to tap into the western Chinese market by chairing the Thailand-China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum 2026, inaugurating the investment office at the Consulate General in Chengdu to attract Chinese investment into Thailand, and meeting major Chinese private sector representatives as well as Thai business groups in China; and in Beijing, holding full bilateral talks and signing historic agreements, meeting with Premier Li Qiang and National People’s Congress Chairman Zhao Leji, and witnessing the signing ceremony of multi-dimensional cooperation agreements between Thai and Chinese governmental sectors.

The government spokesperson concluded that this visit reflects the strong, close relationship and reaffirms China as Thailand’s top trading partner. It presents a golden opportunity to create new economic prospects, enhance competitiveness, and improve the quality of life for citizens, leading to shared prosperity between the two countries in tangible ways.
