Ruththaphol revealed that two suspects named in the Forex case arrest warrants have been fully apprehended, identifying them as key figures. He expressed confidence that Pawut will not flee and explained that questioning will be conducted during the parliamentary recess because the DSI needs to complete the case quickly.
At 09:00 on 15 Jul 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruththaphol Naowarat, Minister of Justice, spoke about the arrest of suspects in the Forex case. This morning, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) arrested Ms. Mallika Maksalud, an executive and director of QRS Education Co., Ltd., a broker for QRS. She has been brought to the DSI for further questioning. She is one of two suspects for whom the court approved arrest warrants. Both suspects have now been apprehended.
When asked whether Ms. Mallika is a key suspect, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruththaphol said she is a broker for QRS and an important suspect for further investigation. Asked if there are other individuals to track down, he said all suspects named in the warrants have been arrested. The DSI continues its investigations, but currently no additional arrests are planned. Instead, the DSI will issue summonses for questioning, including for Pawut Pongwittayaphanu, a party-list MP from the People’s Party.
When asked if Pawut’s case needs to be expedited, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruththaphol said the process will follow the DSI’s procedures on who to question first. Asked again if there is confidence he will not flee, he said he believes Pawut will not run because he is ready to verify the facts. The DSI expects to summon him during the parliamentary recess, as they aim to complete investigations of suspects promptly. When asked if evidence implicates Pawut, Ruththaphol said he did not know the details and suggested asking the DSI.
When asked if all 22 individuals summoned by the DSI are expected to comply and provide statements, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruththaphol said he does not know. Since the court did not approve arrest warrants for them, summonses were issued instead. Whether they appear after summons depends on the individuals. There may be first or second summonses within a set timeframe.
When asked why the DSI requested arrest warrants immediately, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruththaphol explained that it is a legal condition allowing such action. He believes there was sufficient evidence for the court to approve the arrest warrants.
