'Chaiyachana' confirms that 30-baht rice and curry meals do exist, sold in provinces and schools, and criticizes 'Supachai' to focus on creating achievements instead of crafting words. He urges urgent measures to prepare for southern fruit supply before the market is flooded and containment is necessary.,
At 10:00 a.m. on 15 July 2026 at the Parliament, Chaiyachana Dechadecho, party-list MP and deputy leader of the Democrat Party, spoke about Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachai Suthammanphun's response questioning where 30-baht rice and curry exists and offering to accompany him. He said if the minister is available, he will take him there. The minister must understand that in the provinces, 30-baht meals exist, and even in Bangkok government agencies and schools. Therefore, if the government truly wants to help people, it should check the current cheapest price of rice and curry and set that as a standard to fix prices nationwide. For example, if the cheapest is 30 baht, prices should be adjusted across the country to 30 baht. But today, what measures has the Ministry of Commerce taken to prevent and solve this? He has already pointed out that oil prices have fallen, yet product prices have not decreased. The minister has not listened.
"I have told the minister, who speaks eloquently, many times, but he refuses to listen. I think he should spend his time creating achievements instead of inventing words. He should inspect whether consumer goods prices that rose when oil and energy prices increased have now dropped. The Department of Internal Trade under his supervision should issue measures: if any stores are still selling without reducing prices in line with lower costs, what legal actions will be taken? I have already told him that the southern region is entering fruit season. What measures has he prepared? If production floods the market, it is not appropriate to just wait and then ask influencers to help sell at even lower prices. He must have measures to manage both domestic and export markets. That is better than responding by questioning the existence of 30-baht rice and curry. Which country does he come from? Even schools still sell 30-baht rice and curry," Chaiyachana said.
He pressed for urgent measures to support southern fruit before the market is flooded and containment is needed.
Chaiyachana reiterated that there must be measures for schools, government offices, and private sectors to ensure balanced pricing around 30 baht. If this cannot be achieved due to rising raw material costs, how will the Ministry of Commerce reduce raw material prices? This is what the Commerce Minister should do. Whether to evaluate the minister’s performance, he said to ask the Prime Minister. For him, if prices remain high, sales prices stay low, incomes are unchanged, but living costs rise, Minister Supachai should reconsider his work. He reminded that this is Thailand, not a private company that can do whatever it wants.
