“Teng Natthapong” vows to monitor legal reforms and conduct field inspections of entertainment venues and establishments after discovering licensing loopholes that led to the brewery fire in Ladprao.
On 15 July 2026 at the Parliament, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke after the Shadow Cabinet meeting regarding the brewery fire in Ladprao on 12 July. He expressed condolences for the incident, noting that such events are not unprecedented in Thailand. He said the root causes may lie in loopholes and gaps in both the law itself and its enforcement by government officials empowered to implement various regulations.
Mr. Natthapong continued that their proposal includes possible legal amendments and zoning arrangements currently under the authority of the Minister of Interior. He suggested that transferring this authority to local administrations, such as the Governor of Bangkok, might lead to closer supervision and more effective zoning management.
He further stated that current legal gaps might allow some operators who should properly obtain licenses as entertainment venues with strict safety measures to instead circumvent regulations by obtaining licenses as establishments like restaurants serving alcoholic beverages. This loophole has led to repeated incidents like this one. He affirmed their readiness to follow up on legal improvements and to conduct inspections of businesses and entertainment venues in various areas to ensure tighter controls.
