Anutin Aims to Elevate Thailand’s Halal Industry as ASEAN Economic Hub

Anutin opened Mega Halal Bangkok 2026, aiming to elevate Thailand’s halal industry as the ASEAN economic hub, emphasizing it as a vital platform for businesses to meet, exchange ideas, and advance cooperation.

At 11:00 a.m. on 15 July 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of Mega Halal Bangkok 2026. During his opening speech, Anutin said that consumers today pay more attention than before to the origins of products, how they are made, and the trustworthiness of the producers behind them.

Currently, halal has evolved beyond a religious certification to become an internationally recognized standard. The halal economy is one of the fastest-growing sectors worldwide. For Thailand, this is more than a growing market opportunity; it is a chance to strengthen the national food system, develop a value-added industry, support farmers and entrepreneurs, and contribute to global food security. Thailand has long been recognized as the 'Kitchen of the World,' and today it is building on that strength toward broader goals.

The Prime Minister added that Thailand is ready to be the ASEAN halal economic hub and a gateway linking Southeast Asia with the Muslim world. Mega Halal Bangkok is not just an exhibition but a crucial platform for business networking, idea exchange, and collaboration. Local producers can connect with global markets. He invited all sectors to work together to create a safe food system, a resilient supply chain, and an inclusive, sustainable economic system.
