Anutin Satisfied with Ministers Improved Public Relations Work, Praises Teamwork and Focus on Beneficial Issues

Anutin is satisfied with the ministers' improvements in public relations, praising their good appearance, teamwork, and focus on addressing only beneficial matters. He is confident that the local corruption exam investigation will not affect Thailand's entry as an OECD member country.

At 10:00 a.m. on 16 July 2026, at the Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul was interviewed regarding his directive for the Cabinet to improve communication. Now that a week has passed, he was asked about the results. He responded that journalists should assess it, but he thinks it looks good. He said they now respond only to matters that are beneficial and highlight positive developments in the country. When asked whether many ministers' actions caught the Prime Minister's attention, Anutin did not answer but chuckled softly. When asked if the government and ministry spokesperson teams are performing well, he said everyone is doing their best, working as a team to share achievements with the public. He added that anything not related to achievements or not beneficial should not be presented.

Decisions of the Central Committee must follow its resolutions and cannot be based on personal preferences.

Anutin also addressed whether the 2025 local official exam corruption scandal would affect Thailand's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He said these are separate matters. Joining the OECD involves governance principles and oversight mechanisms. While it is impossible to completely prevent all corruption, the government has systems to detect and swiftly prosecute offenders, as demonstrated in the recent arrest and prosecution of those involved in the local official exam corruption. Investigations continue. When asked about the outcome of the Central Committee for Local Officials and Employees meeting on 23 July and whether it will align with the Local Officials Competitive Examination Committee's decisions, he said the details are for the responsible parties. The committee’s resolutions must be followed according to the law and cannot be based on personal wishes.
