"Je Seth" honors village security volunteers nationwide on Village Security Volunteer Day, praising their sacrifice as key forces safeguarding security in their communities.
On 16 July 2026, the Department of Provincial Administration organized the 2026 Village Security Volunteer (VSV) Day event to honor and boost the morale of VSV members—citizen volunteers dedicated to assisting local administration in protecting the safety of lives and property. The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Je Seth Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, attended by Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosum, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, ministry executives, provincial governors, heads of agencies, network partners, and 1,200 VSV members from eight provinces, all gathered to demonstrate the strength of this important community security network.
Mr. Naruecha Kosasivilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, reported that the event aims to promote public participation in maintaining village peace and to honor VSV members who selflessly dedicate their energy, spirit, and time for the common good without expecting rewards, embodying the motto "VSV born to repay the land." He affirmed that the department will continue to develop and strengthen this community security network to be reliable partners alongside local authorities, ensuring sustainable safety and security for the people and nation.
Following this, the ceremony chair read a message commemorating the 2026 Village Security Volunteer Day, emphasizing that 16 July each year is designated as VSV Day in remembrance of the benevolence of King Nangklao (Rama III), who enacted the Five-Line Law on 16 July 1837, laying the foundation for public participation in village order maintenance and serving as the prototype for establishing the VSV units up to the present day.
The Deputy Minister of Interior praised and thanked every village security volunteer, as well as partner networks and relevant agencies, for their dedicated, patient, and determined service in safeguarding public safety. He expressed confidence that the cooperative strength of the community will be a vital force in alleviating hardship, promoting welfare, and enhancing security, peace, and community and national resilience into the future.
The event featured exhibitions of VSV operational achievements, a parade and honor procession, tactical demonstrations, oath-taking ceremonies, and the presentation of awards to 20 outstanding VSV units at the regional and southern border province levels for fiscal year 2026 to recognize units with exemplary performance and to boost morale among volunteers nationwide.
Currently, there are over 732,000 village security volunteers distributed throughout every province in Thailand.
