Wilas Files 65 Complaints to NACC Against New Parliament, Demands Seizure of 1.5 Billion Baht Guarantee, Exposes 2027 Budget Favoring Free Repair for Contractor at Sa Kaeo Pool

Wilas filed 65 complaints to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) against the new parliament, demanding seizure of 1.5 billion baht performance guarantees and exposing a 2027 budget plan that appears to support free repairs by contractors at the "Sa Kaeo" pool.

On 16 July 2026 at the public plaza outside the parliament building, Wilas Chanpitak, former Democrat MP and ex-chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, held a press conference after the performance guarantee period for the new parliament building ended on 15 July. He announced he had filed a total of 65 complaints with the NACC, challenging anyone who believes his information is false to sue him immediately.

Wilas also outlined seven key demands, urging the Secretariat of the House of Representatives to seize three performance guarantee funds totaling over 1.5 billion baht to cover extensive repairs. He stated that legally, the warranty period does not end until all defect corrections are completed.

The former anti-corruption commission chairman highlighted opacity in the 2027 budget draft, noting attempts by some parties to allocate as much as 123 million baht to renovate the "Sa Kaeo" swimming pool inside the parliament. However, the pool was constructed incorrectly, causing leaks that, per contract, the contractor must fix free of charge, rather than using taxpayers' money redundantly. He estimated total damage and outstanding repairs might reach 1 billion baht, citing, among other issues, over 27,300 floorboards in private rooms that failed to meet specifications by 70% according to joint inspections with the Forestry Department. Additionally, he pointed out contract breaches involving unauthorized hiring of subcontractors.

"I warn permanent civil servants not to serve politicians to the extent of risking imprisonment. There are threats to transfer honest officials involved in inspections. I urge stopping the behavior of currying favor with the powerful for positions and instead focus on the nation's interests," Wilas said. He added that he has filed charges against three former parliamentary secretaries-general, except for the current secretary-general, Siroj Paetphan, who has a record as one of three committee members consistently voting against accepting incomplete work.
