On 16 July 2026, reporters from the Government House reported that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his delegation, is scheduled for an official visit to the People's Republic of China from 16 to 20 July 2026. The purpose is to strengthen bilateral relations, expand cooperation in technology, attract investment, and promote tourism cooperation in three key cities: Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing. The visit aims to negotiate with leading Chinese enterprises to position Thailand as a production base for advanced technology industries such as data centers and component manufacturing.
The mission begins on Thursday, 16 July 2026, with the Prime Minister and his delegation departing Bangkok for Shanghai, China. On Friday, 17 July 2026, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend and deliver remarks at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. He will also hold bilateral talks with the President of Kazakhstan on the same day. The delegation will visit the headquarters of AgiBot to see innovations in artificial intelligence and humanoid robots before paying respects to the President of the People's Republic of China. The Mayor of Shanghai will host a dinner in their honor.
On Saturday, 18 July 2026, the Prime Minister's delegation will proceed to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, to drive economic cooperation and investment. They will meet with Thai private sector representatives and preside over the opening of the “Thailand-China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum 2026.” They will also inaugurate the investment office at the Consulate General in Chengdu. A key highlight is a series of one-on-one meetings with senior executives from six leading Chinese companies: Xiaomi, ChangAn Automobile, InnoLight Technology, Eoptolink Technology, China Sichuan Airlines, and Meituan. The day will conclude with a reception hosted by the Secretary of the Communist Party of Sichuan Province.
On Sunday, 19 July 2026, the Prime Minister's delegation will travel to Beijing to visit innovation centers and hold discussions with senior executives of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. They will attend an honorary dinner hosted by the Thai Ambassador to China. The following day, Monday, 20 July 2026, the official state-level agenda begins with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Martyrs' Monument in Tiananmen Square, followed by meetings with the Chairman of the National People's Congress of China. The program includes an official welcome ceremony with an honor guard inspection and a full plenary bilateral discussion with the Premier of the People's Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People.
On this occasion, the Prime Ministers of both countries will witness the signing and endorsement of six key documents, previously approved by the Thai Cabinet on 14 July 2026, to concretely advance cooperation. These include MOUs on industrial and supply chains focusing on digital economy, electric vehicles (EV), and green industries; enforcement of intellectual property rights in both traditional markets and online platforms; cooperation on metrology to enhance agricultural standards and digital economy; AI education to develop secure and sustainable teaching; a protocol on quarantine and sanitary requirements for live aquatic animals to facilitate Thai exports; and a joint statement to strengthen a comprehensive strategic partnership. Afterwards, the Chinese Premier will host a luncheon honoring the Thai Prime Minister and his spouse.
After completing the national-level official engagements on the same day, the Prime Minister's delegation will visit the headquarters of Alibaba Group for discussions with executives and tour the CP Center office in Beijing before departing Beijing and returning safely to Thailand late that evening.
