The government revealed progress on the "Thai Help Thai Franchise Career Plus" project, with 150 people having started buying franchises. Applications are open until 31 August, emphasizing the importance of creating sustainable careers alongside income generation.
On 17 July 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertviwattana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is advancing efforts to create jobs and income for the public through the "Thai Help Thai Franchise Career Plus" project. Most recently, after opening franchise package sales through the website from 1 July 2026 and officially launching the project on 13 July, there have been 150 people purchasing franchise packages, with many others currently submitting documents to join. Applications are accepted until 31 August 2026.
The Deputy Spokesperson said that under the government's policy to both address living costs and generate income, they support 50% of franchise package fees, up to 10,000 baht per person, for franchises valued at no more than 100,000 baht. Over 100 standard franchise brands have been selected to help people start businesses more easily and reduce investment risks.
The most popular businesses since the project's start are in food and beverage, especially street food businesses such as exploding meatballs, standing meatballs, fried sausages, Tokyo-style snacks, Pad Thai, Yen Ta Fo, as well as drinks like milk tea, coffee, fruit smoothies, and yogurt smoothies. Education and service businesses, such as laundries, follow in popularity, reflecting people's interest in businesses that can start quickly, require low investment, and generate daily income.
Additionally, the government provides comprehensive support for new entrepreneurs by coordinating with SME D Bank, Krungthai Bank, Government Savings Bank, and the Small Industry Credit Guarantee Corporation to offer special interest loans and loan guarantees. CP Axtra Public Company Limited has also cooperated by providing sales space in more than 2,000 Lotus and Makro branches, totaling over 10,000 points nationwide, with rent waived for six months. They also connect shops to the "Tung Ngern" app to join the "Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40" measure, increasing customer access and sales opportunities from the start of operations.
"The government prioritizes creating sustainable careers alongside income generation by reducing startup costs, including financial support, access to funding, sales space, and developing entrepreneurs' capabilities. This enables people to truly start businesses, achieve stable income, and become a vital force in driving the country's grassroots economy," she said.
