Pakamon Reveals Submission of Evidence Against Dr. Saran to NBTC Selection Committee Until the Last Minute, Urges Prime Minister for Swift Royal Dismissal

Pakamon, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Political Development, revealed submitting evidence indicating Dr. Saran's disqualifying traits to the NBTC selection committee until the last moment, urging Prime Minister Anutin to promptly submit a royal request for dismissal.

On 17 July 2026, Pakamon Noon-anun, party-list MP and spokesperson for the People's Party, serving as Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Political Development, posted on Facebook that the committee reviewed the qualifications of the NBTC chairman in four scheduled meetings, held three times in reality, collecting documents and opinions to submit to the selection committee until the final moment. This morning, Anusorn Kaewwichean, Nonthaburi MP from the People's Party and deputy chair of the committee, alongside Dr. Supat Hasuwannakit, advisor to the committee chair, submitted two important document sets to the NBTC selection committee for consideration: 1. A letter from the Senate Secretariat to the committee attaching a copy of a document signed by Clinical Professor Dr. Saran on 8 January 2022, certifying to the selection committee that he had resigned or ceased prohibited professional activities and was qualified for NBTC membership; 2. A letter from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, along with confirmation from Mahidol University dated 3 October 2025, stating that between 8 January 2022 and 12 April 2022, Dr. Saran continued to work as an hourly paid physician at Mahidol University.

Pakamon explained that the key point of these documents is that if the facts confirmed by Mahidol University are accurate, it suggests that during the period when Dr. Saran was nominated for NBTC membership, he remained an employee or staff member of Mahidol University. The committee believes this issue should be reviewed by the selection committee and relevant agencies to determine whether it constitutes a disqualifying characteristic under the Frequency Allocation Organization Act.

Call for Prime Minister to submit royal dismissal request promptly.

Pakamon further posted that, as chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Political Development, she calls on the Prime Minister and Anutin Charnvirakul to bring this matter before His Majesty the King, requesting His Majesty to graciously order the removal of Dr. Saran Boonbaichaiyapruck from the position of NBTC chairman under Section 20 of the NBTC Act. She added that she does not believe accusations that the Prime Minister has continuously protected Dr. Saran; this case will be a test of whether the government works transparently and impartially. She hopes the Prime Minister will prove these claims by promptly submitting the royal petition.
