Deputy Education Minister Appoints Lawyer Phumipong as Advisor to Strengthen Ministry’s Rights Protection Team

Akkharanat signed an order appointing Phumipong Jongsakul, a young lawyer from Kanchanaburi, as advisor to the Deputy Minister of Education to strengthen the Ministry of Education’s Center for Protection of Rights, Freedom, and Safety.


17 July 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Akkharanat Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, signed the Ministry of Education’s order No. Sor. 17/2569 regarding the appointment of an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Education (Mr. Akkharanat Kankittinan). The order states that by royal decree, Mr. Akkharanat was appointed Deputy Minister of Education as announced on 30 March 2026.

To ensure the efficient and effective administration of the Deputy Minister of Education’s duties by Mr. Akkharanat Kankittinan, and for the benefit of government service, under the authority granted by the Cabinet resolution of 6 April 2026, Mr. Phumipong Jongsakul is hereby appointed as advisor to the Deputy Minister of Education (Mr. Akkharanat Kankittinan). His duties are as follows:

1. To provide advice, opinions, and recommendations in setting directions and strategies to support the preparation of action plans/projects/activities to drive the Deputy Minister of Education’s responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

2. To monitor the implementation, analyze problems and obstacles in operations, and report progress on responsibilities to the Deputy Minister of Education (Mr. Akkharanat Kankittinan).

3. To perform other assigned duties.

This appointment is effective immediately.

Background of Phumipong Jongsakul

Mr. Phumipong Jongsakul, aged 35, is a native of Kanchanaburi Province. He completed secondary education at Chalermprakiet Somdet Phra Srinagarindra School, Kanchanaburi. He holds a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Digital Law from the University of Glasgow, Scotland (2017), is a certified Thai barrister (2015), and earned a Bachelor of Laws from Assumption University (2013).

Phumipong’s career includes senior lawyer and board member at Bangkok International Associates law firm (2017–present), handling cases and providing advice on Thai and international law. He serves as legal advisor to the Anti-Corruption Journalists Association (Thailand) (2021–present), legal expert to a Member of Parliament (Mr. Akkharanat Kankittinan) from 2023 to 2025, advisor to a special parliamentary commission studying drought prevention and resolution, advisor to the Kanchanaburi Provincial Administrative Organization’s development committee, including subcommittees on border area development at reservoir dams and transport, and revenue procurement (2021–2023).

This appointment partly involves his participation in the Ministry of Education’s Center for Protection of Rights, Freedom, and Safety, established to protect, prevent, and resolve safety issues affecting students, teachers, and educational staff, where Mr. Akkharanat also serves as director.
