No Need to Drop Out: Deputy Education Minister Pushes to Resolve State Welfare Card Issues for SSO Students

Deputy Minister Akkranun expressed concern and ordered all relevant agencies to urgently coordinate to resolve the problems with the State Welfare Card. He reminded Social Security Office (SSO) students that they should not drop out of school, emphasizing that no child should have to choose between their future and their family's survival.

18 Jul 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Akkranun Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, commented on the case where some students under the Social Security Office (SSO) have gradually dropped out of school after failing to meet the criteria for receiving the State Welfare Card. He said that the Ministry of Education is now aware of this issue and is not taking it lightly. The ministry is urgently coordinating with related agencies to find a solution because no one should have to choose between education and essential life rights.

Deputy Minister Akkranun further urged all students to remain calm and not to decide to drop out of school just yet, as the Ministry of Education is accelerating efforts to resolve the problem. "Since hearing the news, I have felt uneasy because I do not want any of the young people to decide to drop out due to concerns about rights or family burdens. Their duty is to study and hold onto their dreams, while solving these problems is our responsibility. I ask the students not to drop out of school yet."

The Deputy Minister of Education also revealed that education is our future. The Ministry of Education will not let students face this problem alone. I and the ministry's executives will stand by the students and coordinate with all relevant agencies to find the best solution. I want students to be confident that whatever problems arise, the Ministry of Education will fully support them to continue their studies without interruption. If problems stem from any conditions or procedures that are obstacles, we will urgently discuss with all relevant agencies to find the most appropriate solution. I only ask that students do not lose hope or abandon their education because solving these problems is our responsibility.
