
Surasak, Minister of Tourism and Sports, led a security deployment at Walking Street Pattaya, enhancing safety with smart technology to build tourist confidence and stressing the role of officials as good hosts.
On 18 July 2026, reporters reported that at 18:00 on 17 July, Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, chaired a security confidence parade at Walking Street Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Attending were Mr. Patsakorn Rangsivatansak, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports and ministry spokesperson; Police Lieutenant General Saksira Phueak-um, Commander of the Tourist Police; Mr. Isra Charoenchatree, Deputy Governor of Chonburi; along with executives from government and private sectors and local personnel.
Mr. Surasak stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports prioritizes raising safety standards for tourists, a key factor in building confidence and attracting quality visitors. He emphasized that all officials must perform their duties as “good hosts,” caring for tourists with friendliness, speed, and efficiency to leave a positive impression and encourage repeat visits to Thailand.
On this occasion, the Tourist Police Headquarters demonstrated technology to enhance safety management in tourist areas under the Smart Tourism concept, including the Mobile Command Center (CCOC) for real-time incident management and the Drone Operation Vehicle for monitoring large tourist areas and crowded spots. This reflects Thailand's advancement toward becoming a Safe and Smart Destination at an international level.
After the parade, Mr. Surasak and the Tourist Police Commander visited Walking Street to meet business operators, listen to suggestions on tourism development, greet foreign tourists, and present souvenirs to create a positive impression and reinforce Thailand’s image as a safe, friendly destination ready to welcome visitors worldwide.
Mr. Surasak reiterated that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will continue integrating efforts with the Tourist Police Headquarters, government agencies, private sectors, and partners nationwide to raise tourism safety standards, build tourist confidence, and drive Thailand's tourism economy toward stable and sustainable growth.
