Thanakorn Challenges Teng, Confident Governments Stability Opposition Cannot Bring It Down

Thanakorn asked Teng where he got the confidence that the government lacks stability, expressed belief that the opposition cannot bring it down, advised against no-confidence debates done merely as tradition, and suggested the government should be allowed to work for the people.

18 July 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana a party-list Member of Parliament (MP) from Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, gave an interview regarding the case that Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut a party-list MP and leader of the Prachachon Party, believes the government lacks stability and will not last long. He said the government under Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is currently working hard. Ministries collaborate smoothly, coordinating well when tasks overlap, united as one.

Thanakorn further stated, he is unsure where Natthapong got his confidence that this government lacks stability. On the contrary, he sees that if all ministries continue to cooperate and push policies that truly reach the people, such as the Thai Chua Thai Plus program, the government will remain in the hearts of the people for a long time.

The reporter asked about Natthapong's statement that he is waiting for the right moment to submit a no-confidence debate against the government. Thanakorn revealed that first, he wants the opposition to discuss among themselves to clarify their position. Sometimes they say there is no performance, sometimes they claim corruption, making it unclear what issues they want to raise in the no-confidence debate.

He does not want the opposition to see no-confidence debates as a routine to be done every year, even without real corruption issues, just to gain votes from the public. If there are no real issues, it is better to let the government manage the country and solve problems for the people continuously. If the opposition has concerns, they can use other legal channels available for oversight.

“I want the opposition to clarify among themselves first whether they intend to submit the no-confidence motion because of real issues or just because it is a tradition for the opposition to do so every term. If it is just tradition, it will be a waste of time. Let the government continue working for the people. If there is suspicious information, they can submit it to the government for investigation or proceed through the relevant agencies or legal channels available. This way, the public benefits more. If the opposition is confident their votes can topple the government, I am equally confident the government’s support is solid and cannot be brought down.”
