On 18 July 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Aekniti Nitithanprapas joined the Prime Minister's delegation to visit AgiBot in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The visit aimed to study advancements in Humanoid Robot technology and Embodied AI—artificial intelligence capable of perceiving, learning, deciding, and performing tasks through a robot's physical form. AgiBot is a leading technology company developing comprehensive robotic systems, from hardware, AI models, and operating systems to training data, for use in manufacturing, logistics, services, and eldercare.
This visit highlights the government's proactive efforts to closely monitor global technological changes and incorporate real-world data and experience into designing economic, fiscal, and investment policies aligned with future industries. For Thailand, opportunities extend beyond simply using robots to improve production efficiency; they also include attracting investments in high-precision components, electronics, AI software, and automation systems, as well as developing Thai personnel and entrepreneurs to become part of the global technology supply chain.
