Suksamruay Orders No Tolerance for Embezzlement of 60 Million Baht from Chiang Mai Village Fund

Minister Suksamruay ordered an urgent investigation into the embezzlement of over 60 million baht from the Doi Lo village fund in Chiang Mai Province, declaring that those who commit offenses must be punished by law without exception.

On 19 July 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Suksamruay Wantaneekul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that following a fact-finding visit by the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office, Branch 1, regarding reports of embezzlement in Doi Lo District, Chiang Mai Province, preliminary information showed that funds from several village funds in the area were misused. The funds were lent out to others with interest and circulated outside the official system for personal benefit, causing widespread losses to fund members.

Initially, victims have filed complaints with investigators, and the police have taken legal action and are pursuing the suspects for prosecution.

Currently, the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office is coordinating with police, prosecutors, and relevant agencies to expedite investigations, broaden the scope, and examine the financial trails thoroughly. Should more individuals be implicated or additional fraud uncovered, legal action will be taken fully without any exceptions.

The NVUCFO reaffirms its commitment to protecting the interests of village fund members by adhering to transparency, fairness, and continuously building public confidence.
