Anutin revealed that four major Chinese tech companies are prepared to invest over 70 billion baht in Thailand, creating tens of thousands of jobs. He emphasized the "Thailand FastPass" initiative to attract global production bases, upgrade Thai workforce skills, and unlock major investments. The Board of Investment (BOI) stands ready to eliminate obstacles through a single, comprehensive service point.
Today (19 Jul) at approximately 15:45 local time in the People's Republic of China, one hour ahead of Thailand, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul spoke during a flight from Chengdu to Beijing. He shared the success following discussions on 18 July with executives of four major Chinese technology companies, stating that Chinese investors, especially in advanced technology industries, are highly confident in choosing Thailand as a base for targeted product manufacturing and innovation development.
Discussions with senior executives of these leading companies confirmed plans to invest a total exceeding 70 billion baht in Thailand within this year.
The focus is on industries requiring precision and advanced technology, such as optical transceivers supporting data center businesses, semiconductors, microchips for high-speed communications, and ongoing expansion in electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing capacity.
This massive investment is expected to create tens of thousands of new jobs for Thai workers. The government prioritizes upskilling, with Thai laborers to receive direct knowledge transfer and modern technology training from these leading companies, enhancing the long-term value of Thailand's industrial sector.
The Prime Minister added that a key reason Chinese investors select Thailand among top choices is confidence in infrastructure, including transport systems and utilities, which support Thailand as a production base outside China to manage geopolitical challenges.
Asked how the government will continue support, the Prime Minister said the government assures investors through the BOI's current "Thailand FastPass" policy, which serves as a one-stop service to accelerate and streamline approval processes.
"Investors appreciate the convenience and transparency, especially the absence of benefit solicitations or informal payments as in the past, and no need to deal with multiple agencies, since the BOI coordinates and removes all obstacles at a single point," Anutin said.
When asked if Thai businesspeople investing in China have proposals for the Prime Minister's discussion with the Chinese Premier tomorrow (20 Jul), Anutin said most Thai businesses operating in China are in agriculture, food, power plants, and service sectors such as hotel chains. From meetings with dozens of executives and owners, they confirmed receiving excellent business facilitation from the Chinese government as well.
The Prime Minister concluded that the government is prepared to support and adjust conditions to meet investor needs, aiming to fully establish Thailand as a regional production hub for future technologies.
