Supamas Sends Pradermchai to Intensively Coach on Smart Home Buying 2026 to Prevent Exploitation

"Je Pheung" sends an expert to intensively coach on "Smart Home Buying 2026," emphasizing the new proactive Consumer Protection Board to prevent structural defects and block exploitation.

On 19 July 2026 at Thammasat Association under Royal Patronage, Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, assigned Mr. Pradermchai Boonchuaileua, advisor to the Minister, to represent her in opening the "Smart Home Buying 2026" event. The event drew large attendance from government representatives, real estate developers, and the public to enhance knowledge on choosing housing and protecting consumer rights.

Mr. Pradermchai revealed that Ms. Supamas's main policy is to transform the Consumer Protection Board (CPB) into a truly proactive agency. Rather than waiting passively for citizens to suffer damages before responding, the focus is on building confidence through preventing problems in advance, alongside swiftly resolving complaints with transparent monitoring at every stage.

"The new CPB must work proactively to assure citizens that when problems arise, the government agency will promptly and effectively step in with transparent and clear responses at every step," Mr. Pradermchai said. He also urged real estate developers to raise construction standards beyond the legal minimums, considering long-term usability. He cited past complaints such as parking areas sinking due to lack of pile foundations. Although not legally required before, residents' later modifications often caused structural subsidence, leading to severe disputes. Therefore, higher initial standards by developers can reduce lawsuits and benefit the industry overall in the long term.

The "Smart Home Buying 2026" event aims to empower consumers with knowledge—from techniques for selecting homes, verifying project information, contract precautions, to ownership transfer procedures—to minimize risks of exploitation. The CPB reaffirmed its readiness to assist those facing injustice through the hotline 1166, the OCPB Connect app, or the website www.ocpb.go.th, available 24 hours.
