The Prime Minister discussed with Huawei the advancement of AI and cloud technologies, revealing that this collaboration is not only about attracting investment from a global technology company but also about creating opportunities for Thai people to access knowledge and acquire skills that the market demands.
On 19 July 2026 at 17:30 local time in Beijing, which is one hour ahead of Thailand, at the Huawei Beijing Executive Briefing Center in Beijing, People's Republic of China, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, disclosed that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also Minister of Interior, visited Huawei's technology and innovation exhibition and held discussions with senior company executives to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud systems, digital technology, and the development of Thai personnel.
The Prime Minister stated that the government is ready to continue cooperation with Huawei as an investor and technology partner to support the goal of advancing Thailand toward an AI-driven economy. The technology must deliver tangible benefits to the public, including improving the efficiency of public services, education, healthcare, agriculture, urban management, as well as creating new jobs and professions with higher incomes.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Thailand welcomes investment in future industries, including AI, semiconductors, data centers, cloud systems, and high-speed communication technologies. Thailand is equipped with infrastructure, an investment ecosystem, and an industrial base linked to global production chains.
Huawei executives stated that the company has operated in Thailand for more than 20 years and continues to expand investments in digital skill development centers, cloud services, data centers, and regional headquarters. They praised Thailand as an open and capable country and expressed confidence in the business environment and Thailand's potential, which is suitable for digital business operations.
The company also agreed with the Prime Minister's remarks at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai regarding AI governance, which should be based on three key principles: protecting the people (Protection), unlocking potential (Potential), and creating shared prosperity (Prosperity).
Both parties agreed to promote two key collaborative areas: developing Thai people with future skills through the Huawei ICT Academy Thailand project, which works with higher education institutions nationwide, and collaboration on cloud and AI technologies with government agencies and universities to produce personnel with skills aligned to labor market demands.
Expanding the use of AI and digital technologies to increase business efficiency, enhance public services, and strengthen the country's competitiveness, with an emphasis on developing technology alongside building Thai human resources.
