Starting 20 July: Eligible State Welfare Cardholders Register for Water Bill Discount

Starting today, 20 July, the government opens registration for a water bill discount of up to 100 baht per household per month for those who meet the criteria of the 2026 State Welfare Card program, both existing and new recipients. It is stressed that everyone must re-register.

On 20 July 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertvivat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is moving forward to alleviate living costs for low-income earners by allowing those who meet the eligibility criteria for the 2026 State Welfare Card program to register for the water bill discount starting from 20 July 2026. She emphasized that all eligible individuals, both existing and new, must re-register to confirm their entitlement.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office stated that the government supports a water bill discount of up to 100 baht per household per month to help reduce citizens' expenses. The policy allows one entitlement per household address. If the water bill exceeds 100 baht but does not exceed 315 baht, the eligible user pays only the amount above the subsidy. If the bill exceeds 315 baht, the user is responsible for the entire water cost.

For existing eligible recipients who received benefits under the 2022 State Welfare Card program and have qualified for the 2026 program, registration is open from 20 to 25 July 2026. This registration applies for water usage starting in August 2026, with subsidies reflected in the September 2026 water bill. Retroactive benefits cannot be claimed.

For new eligible recipients who have passed qualification and identity verification, registration is open from 20 July to 25 September 2026. The discount applies for water usage starting in October 2026, with subsidies shown on the November 2026 water bill. Retroactive claims are also not allowed.

The Deputy Spokesperson added that eligible individuals can register themselves through three channels: the Provincial Waterworks Authority website (www.pwa.co.th), the PWA Plus Life application, and the LINE Official Account @PWAThailand, or by contacting staff at PWA branches nationwide. During the registration period from 20 July to 30 September 2026, services will be available daily from 08:00 to 18:30, including public holidays, to facilitate convenience for the public.

“The government is committed to continuously reducing the cost of living for citizens. Therefore, we encourage those who qualify under the 2026 State Welfare Card program to complete registration within the specified period to maintain their eligibility for water bill subsidies and fully benefit from government assistance measures,” the Deputy Spokesperson concluded.
