The Prime Minister discussed with the Chairman of China's National People's Congress the advancement of cooperation to combat transnational crime and online fraud gangs, promoting collaboration between the two parliaments and continuing Thai-Chinese friendship in its 51st year.
At 09:30 local time on 20 July 2026 in Beijing, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Martyrs' Monument in Tiananmen Square before meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of China's National People's Congress, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Government Spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek stated that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue Thai-Chinese friendship, now in its 51st year of diplomatic relations, and to promote cooperation, especially in new sectors such as space, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, sustainable environmental protection, and to strengthen parliamentary collaboration for tangible benefits to both nations' peoples.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister stated that Thailand and China will drive cooperation in four key areas:
1. Politics and security: enhancing high-level exchanges, establishing a 2+2 cooperation mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, and jointly combating transnational crime and online fraud gangs.
2. Economy and investment: promoting balanced trade, high-quality investment that creates jobs and adds value in Thailand, as well as cooperation in science, technology, future industries, and infrastructure.
3. People-to-people relations: promoting tourism, culture, and media exchanges to foster understanding and closer ties between Thai and Chinese peoples.
4. Regional cooperation: supporting ASEAN's central role, cooperation in the Mekong River basin, resolving regional issues through dialogue, and supporting peace in Myanmar.
The Prime Minister also encouraged increased legislative exchanges between the two countries' parliaments and invited the Chairman of China's National People's Congress to visit Thailand, which if realized, would be the first visit in 15 years.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that close cooperation between the governments and legislatures of Thailand and China will create economic opportunities, enhance security, and strengthen long-term regional stability.
On this occasion, the Chairman of China's National People's Congress welcomed the Prime Minister's first official visit to China, which included attending WAIC 2026 and paying respects to President Xi Jinping, and both sides will work to translate cooperation into concrete actions benefiting the peoples of both countries.
The Chairman of China's National People's Congress also stated that China is ready to support Thailand's operations and cooperation in modern sectors, especially artificial intelligence, digital technology, space, health, environment, and clean energy. Additionally, China and Thailand will cooperate more closely on international platforms such as ASEAN-China and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation framework, while upholding and protecting international principles based on the United Nations.
The Chairman expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the two parliaments and hopes to exchange approaches to advance environmental law and sustainable development, sending best wishes and an invitation to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Thailand's Parliament for their first visit to China.
