On 20 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Richcha Suksuwanont, Deputy Spokesperson of the Army, stated after the court sentenced Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, a political activist, to six months in prison—suspended for one year—for peaceful resistance to military conscription that, according to inquiries with the Territorial Defense Command, the defendant reached the age of 30 during this year's conscription period. Under the Military Service Act, this means he is no longer subject to conscription and will be discharged as a second-class reserve soldier. Regarding the legal case, it remains subject to the court’s existing judgment.
