Two prominent female ministers convened the Film Board meeting, revealing the good news that private sector submissions have exceeded 80 projects, totaling nearly 3.1 billion baht in value.
On 20 Jul 2026 GMT+7, in Meeting Room 301, Government House Building 1, Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, chaired the National Film and Video Board meeting No. 1/2026, joined by Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, Dr. Patcharin Samsiripong, Secretary to the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, board members, and related parties via Zoom.
Ms. Supamas reported that the meeting acknowledged the excellent response to the domestic Thai film production incentive program (submission round from 13 Jan to 31 Mar 2026). There were 74 fully completed project submissions by the private sector, with an estimated expenditure of 3.051 billion baht. Of these, 59 projects are expected to complete production and apply for support funds by May 2027, including 9 films, 38 dramas and series, and 12 music videos, with a combined investment value of over 2.417 billion baht.
Additionally, under the foreign digital content production incentive program, there were 8 fully submitted projects with a production contract value exceeding 87.94 million baht, covering animation, virtual production, visual effects (VFX), and post-production work. This reflects foreign confidence in Thai studios and personnel. To align management with modern missions, the meeting approved a major restructuring of subcommittees by revoking the previous appointments of five subcommittees and reorganizing eight new subcommittees. It also approved the composition and mechanisms for reviewing support funds under each incentive to ensure transparency and efficiency, assigning the Ministry of Culture to present these for Cabinet approval.
Simultaneously, the meeting approved including the "Irish Film Festival" as an international film festival under the Film and Video Act B.E. 2551 (2008). The festival has been held continuously in Thailand seven times since 2017, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening good relations between Thailand and Ireland.
“The restructuring of management mechanisms and advancing support measures on both fronts will enhance the efficiency of driving the film and digital content industries, generate investment and employment, and elevate Thailand as a capable international content production base,” Ms. Supamas concluded.
