The government spokesperson revealed that following the conclusion of the China roadshow, Prime Minister Anutin was satisfied with the successful visit to China, strengthening Thailand-China cooperation at all levels and transforming Thailand into a partner in the digital economy.
On 21 July 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul was pleased with the success of his official visit to China as Prime Minister for the first time. The visit expanded Thailand-China cooperation in four key areas: central government to central government, Thai provincial to Chinese provincial governments, Thai private sector to Chinese private sector, and people-to-people relations. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to pay respects to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, reaffirming Thailand’s position on the Thai-Cambodian border issue through bilateral mechanisms and sincere negotiations aimed at finding peaceful solutions together.
1) The Prime Minister showcased Thailand’s AI vision at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026 (WAIC 2026), focusing on three key points: protection of the people, unlocking potential, and shared prosperity, all aimed at "building an AI future that leaves no one behind."
2) "Strengthening comprehensive relations between central and local governments," the Prime Minister met with three top officials of China’s central government.
These included Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji, as well as two provincial leaders: Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng and Communist Party Secretary of Sichuan Province Wang Xiaohui.
Moving toward modern cooperation to build a digital economy through trade, investment, artificial intelligence innovation, and future industries such as space, AI, electric vehicles, and clean energy. The aim is to transform Thailand from a manufacturing "base" into a "partner" in the global production chain by transferring technology, establishing R&D centers, developing Thai workforce skills (upskilling), and increasing the use of local content. In trade, China is interested in importing high-quality Thai agricultural products, with Thailand hoping to increase export value to create a more balanced trade relationship with China.
To strengthen security, a 2+2 mechanism involving the foreign and defense ministers of Thailand and China will be established, alongside efforts to combat cross-border crimes such as online scams and human trafficking. Thailand assured China of its commitment to ensuring tourist safety, expecting an increase in Chinese tourists visiting Thailand.
Thailand and China achieved the signing of 15 agreements covering science, space, education, AI, commerce, intellectual property, and water management.
2) The "Thailand Plus Team," a collaboration between Thai government and private sectors, created opportunities for Thai private investment in China by participating in the Prime Minister-Thai Private Sector Luncheon with 150 Thai owners and senior executives (CEOs) from various industries investing in China, including finance, food, energy, industrial estates, medical and public health, and tourism. This public-private partnership aims to increase Thai investment opportunities abroad.
3) The "Showcase of Thailand’s Potential" impressed Chinese private sector and major tech firms through visits to the headquarters of AgiBot, Huawei, Alibaba, and CP, as well as one-on-one discussions with leading Chinese tech companies such as Xiaomi Corporation, ChangAn Automobile, InnoLight Technology, and Eoptolink Technology. The Chinese private sector expressed confidence in Thailand’s investment promotion policies for industrial groups and trust in Thailand’s investment ecosystem, including infrastructure, technology, and workforce, agreeing to expand investments in Thailand by over 14 billion yuan (about 70 billion baht), creating more than ten thousand jobs nationwide.
4) Strengthening people-to-people relations through tourism, research and development, and education aimed at developing human resources at university and vocational levels. Opportunities were opened for Thai students to receive scholarships to study at leading Chinese universities.
The Prime Minister urged all agencies to expedite turning agreements into action. All relevant bodies must quickly implement concrete measures to maintain the momentum of Thailand-China cooperation, which continues to grow. On Friday, the Prime Minister will also welcome the Chinese Minister of Defense, visiting Thailand officially as a guest of the Ministry of Defense, at Government House.
