Justice Minister Ruttaphon denied pressuring People’s Party MP Phawut after his changed stance, praised the TH-AI Passport project, and revealed that over 20 people have been summoned in the Forex case, expected to give statements to the DSI next week.
At 09:35 on 21 July 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, spoke at the Government House about the progress of summoning accused individuals in the Forex case. He stated they have been called to clarify matters to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). He said he was informed by the DSI that last week they issued summonses to over 20 accused individuals, including Phawut Pongwittayapanu, a party-list MP from the People’s Party, with the scheduled clarifications expected next week.
Regarding Phawut’s recent political shift, where he expressed support for the TH-AI Passport project, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon stated there was no discussion or action taken by the government to pressure him. When asked about the timing for formal charges against all accused, he replied that it depends on the evidence gathered as well as the attendance of witnesses and accused individuals.
