Cabinet Approves Energy Sector Regulatory Action Plan for 2026–2032

The Cabinet acknowledged the Energy Sector Regulatory Action Plan for 2026–2032, aiming to manage the country's energy needs effectively and develop regulatory mechanisms.


On 21 July 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet resolved to acknowledge the Energy Sector Regulatory Action Plan (2026–2032) as proposed by the Ministry of Energy. This action plan aims to achieve the following objectives:


1) To manage the country's energy sector by promoting stable, sufficient, and efficient energy services that align with the national energy development context.

2) To develop energy market regulatory mechanisms suited to the context, promoting fair competition in energy activities, setting prices that reflect actual costs, and enhancing the efficiency of energy businesses.

3) To foster collaboration with stakeholders, integrating the work of energy agencies while ensuring fair and comprehensive care for those affected.

4) To elevate the organization to a leading entity by improving management systems, personnel, and organizational culture to meet international standards, enhance efficiency, and be ready for change.


Ms. Ratchada also stated that the plan's development strategies include advancing digital computer systems to efficiently support electricity procurement from renewable energy, promoting the natural gas business toward a fully competitive market, and facilitating electricity trading from renewable energy in fully competitive markets, among others.
